Frequency Lab

Companion of the Ear Training for Sound Technique course at the G.B. Martini Conservatory of Bologna. Synthesis and acoustics stations, spectrogram with recording, 200 quizzes.

Frequency Lab

An interactive laboratory of musical acoustics and ear training, companion of the Ear Training for Sound Technique course taught by the author at the G.B. Martini Conservatory of Bologna. Rebuilt as a PWA on a native Web Audio API engine, designed for teaching transparency, what you hear is what the spectrum shows.

Six modules with stations manipulating in real time frequency, amplitude, timbre, harmonics (additive synthesis), subtractive synthesis, tuning in historical systems, real sampling and aliasing, ISO bands, reverb and delay. Spectrogram with microphone and WAV recording, 200 quizzes on three levels with targeted review of mistakes, theory with listening guides to the 20th century (Parmegiani, Nuova Consonanza, Air Piece) and the soundscape (Schafer, Oliveros).

An optional AI mentor answers using the user's own Gemini key. Class mode for classroom projection via QR. Fully offline, installable, with progress saved on the device.
